About Us

Founded by Sinegugu Ngxongo—grand-daughter of master weaver Beauty Ngxongo—BambiZulu began as a bridge between the weavers of Hlabisa and the wider world, with a passion for evolution: helping crafters earn more, experiment more, and own the future of their tradition. Fifteen years on, we’re a collective of rural artisans and design collaborators who test new forms and push the language of weaving forward.

Our Goal

We weave heritage forward: ilala palm, reclaimed telephone wire and beadwork become contemporary forms that honour centuries-old skill while daring new ideas. Value stays with the maker—each sale funds tools, training and community projects—while sustainable harvesting protects the very landscape that feeds our craft. Supporting BambiZulu sustains rural livelihoods, safeguards indigenous knowledge and proves heirloom-quality craft can be both ethical and earth-kind. We’re not just selling objects; we’re braiding together culture, community and climate responsibility—one weave at a time. Join us in keeping the story going.
